History of Munnuru Kapu :-
Many centuries ago, 300 Kapu families were sent from the
present day Andhra Region to Hyderabad State Before the end of the Kakatiya
Empire, there were incessant attacks on the Empire from the Muslims. The
culture and the warfare of the Muslims were new to the Kakatiya rulers. To
counter the Islamic invasion at the request of the rulers, a team of 300 top
strategists and warriors was sent from Tanjore by the rulers of Kakatiya, who
had won a recent victory. These 300 men, known as "Samsthanams," and
their families moved to Kakatiya Empire and were absorbed into the society.
After the fall of the Kakatiya Empire, the Munnuru Kapu had
Samsthanams with them mostly in and around present day Warangal. They became
powerful generals in the Army, administrators in several kingdoms, small
business owners, small and large landowners, and politicians and had
representation in all streams of society. Before 1947 they were in the
forefront of the Aryasamaj Movement in independent India.
Kapu community:-
Munnuru Kapu is a subcaste of the Kapu community,
which is primarily a Telugu agrarian Community in southern India. Munnuru
Kapu community is the single largest influential Community in
Telangana and constitute about approximately 24% population in the
Telangana region. For centuries, the Munnuru Kapu have been cultivating the
majority of the agricultural lands in the Telangana Region as
traditional farmers, and have played a crucial role in the development of a
self-sustaining agrarian based economy in the region.
What Was The Kapu Are:-
The Munnuru Kapu fight against the Nizam in several ways. They are
Hindu supporters, popularly known as Patels in the villages of the
Telangana region due to their ownership of agricultural land.

The Munnuru Kapu population is concentrated in the districts of
Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Khammam of the Telangana
Region, and a significant population is also present in other Telangana
districts such as Medak, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar Ranga Reddy and
Hyderabad.Munnuru Kapu also reside in the Nanded, Chandrapur, Yeotmal districts
of the Marathwada Region of Maharashtra State and the Bidar, Gulbarga and
Raichur districts of Karnataka State. Their mother tongue is Telugu.
